Appraisal is the ability to determine the value, quality, and authenticity of goods, materials, and treasures. A character with this skill always gains a +1d6 bonus when attempting to distinguish genuine items from counterfeits, identify precious metals or gemstones, or assess the value of goods. The appraisal skill is also useful when negotiating with merchants, bargaining over loot, or evaluating unusual objects recovered during an adventure.
